One way to boost conversions on your landing page is to offer bonuses or incentives for making a sale through your affiliate link. However, you need to be careful to make sure you don’t violate the terms of service. Learn how to take advantage of this trick.

Provide a unique affiliate experience

If you offer a bonus or incentive, you offer the visitor a unique affiliate experience and increase the chance of making a sale through your affiliate link. Make sure you make it clear that the bonus only applies if the purchase is made through your affiliate link. You can ask them to email you the receipt ID, name, and other information that proves they made a purchase.

You do have to make sure that you are not violating the affiliate program terms of service. Most affiliate programs do not allow you to offer coupons, rebates, or other financial compensation. In these cases, however, you are often still allowed to offer free extras, such as an extra guide or ebook to complement the main purchase. Some click-per-action (CPA) affiliate programs do not allow you to provide any encouragement for sales. These are lists as “not incentivizable”. Make sure you are not breaking the rules. Most programs where you actually sell a product allow you to include free bonuses.

What to offer as an affiliate bonus?

In order to encourage a visitor to make a purchase, you want reassure the visitor that the purchase will be useful. You can offer a product that complements the original purchase. For example, suppose your are selling a piece of software that does not come with a good manual. You could create a free report that provides a detailed tutorial of the software along with little-known tricks. This would be a great addition that increases the value of the original product for the customer.

It doesn’t take much to make a difference in conversions. People love freebies and will feel like they are getting a great deal. Try offering bonuses and seeing if your conversions increase.
